Deep Groove Ball Bearings
Links
Deep groove ball bearings are the most popular of all ball bearing types because they are available in a wide variety of seal, shield, and snap ring arrangements. The grooves in the bearing ring are circular arcs made slightly larger than the radius of the ball.
The balls make point contact with the raceways (elliptical contact when loaded). The shoulders of the inner ring are of equal height (as are the shoulders of the outer ring). Deep groove ball bearings can support radial, axial, or combined loads, and due to their simple design, this type of bearing can be produced to provide high running accuracy and high-speed operation. Standard ball retainers (cages) are made of pressed steel. Machined cages are used in very high-speed bearing operation or for large-diameter bearings.
Rigid ball bearings with seals or shields are standardized. They contain the appropriate amount of grease in advance.
