NACHI double-row spherical roller bearings are available in diameter sizes from 25 mm to over 1000 mm. The raceways in the outer ring of this type of bearing are designed with a spherical surface whose center coincides with the center of the bearing. NACHI spherical roller bearings have an improved design with modified line contact between the raceways and the rollers. This construction allows for very high radial and shock load capacity.
This type of bearing can withstand a moderately high level of bidirectional axial load and is self-aligning. It is widely used in large machines where shaft misalignment or mounting errors may occur. Spherical roller bearings are used in paper mill equipment, rolling mills, rolling stock, shaking screens, and general industrial machinery. Mounting and dismounting spherical roller bearings is facilitated by using tapered roller bearings with tapered bores, adapters, or pull sleeves. Internal clearance can also be precisely adjusted using a tapered bore bearing. Pressed steel cages are used for small-bore bearings, while machined cages made of high-strength brass or mild steel are used for bearings with larger bores.
